Hot rod style cabinet pulls

One of my boys has a thumb size piston, complete with connecting rod, on his key ring. He got it out of a weed wacker engine he took apart just for fun.
If you have a small engine shop, or landscaping outfit near you it might be worth wile to make friends with the mechanic.
Another thought wwould be valves from curb side 3.5 HP B&S lawnmower engines. Every spring they sprout like dandelions around here. You would get two per engine. Might be a bit hard to cut threads into them though.

I've actually got a bag full of headlight knobs.. (the pull style) that I've been keeping for the cab's in my basement bathroom when I redo it. You might do a search for something like that. These are I think maybe from some type of machinery.. they are bigger than most automotive knobs and have a decent sized threaded insert in the back.

how about using some old 3/8th's sockets? you could use a washer and double nut them on to the cabinets and drawers

Only downside is cost. Assuming you use the same size socket on each drawer, you'll have to go out and buy a dozen of that socket.
Sure, you could get them from Harbor Freight... but having "Pittsburgh" all over each knob would pretty much eliminate the cool factor.

The latest Hot Rod magazine has some pictures of a bedroom dresser some guy built where he used old intake valves for the drawer pulls, they looked pretty good.

I am currently using spark plugs with two post attaching them to the drawer like a pull handle. my dad had a huge box of 'em that i "borrowed"

How about finding a very cheap set of wrenches and welding on a threaded bolt to attach to the cabinet doors to use as a pull handle?
Wish I had a picture I could show you. We did this to a bar -b- que pit we made. (note: not the best idea since the handle sometimes gets very hot)

I like all of the ideas wish I could do one of each. The socket one sounds like the least amount of work and that is a BIG factor if you know what I mean. I have quite a few doubles and extras/ cheapo's that might make some good candidates and if I hate the look I won't be out anything.
Since I am in the door business I thought of using a roller but that requires some fab time and I'd like to spend any extra getting the poker room upstairs finished
