Hot tub motor for air compressor.??

I am looking for a motor for my air compressor. 5hp, 220v, single phase, 1750-1800rpm. Someone has a motor off of a hot tub that seems to fit my specs. Besides having to remove pump from motor, it says that there is a high and low speed for this motor. One at 3450 and other at 1725. I am not really sure how this works?? Motor is fairly cheap, but a 45 min drive. Before I waste time and money, does anyone have any thoughts on this or is a motor that is totally wrong for an air compressor??

Probably only makes the 5 hp at high speed. Start torque is probably going to be way lacking too. Depending on the age and size of the compressor, you are getting close to replacement cost for the entire unit over the remotor cost, when looking at new motor prices.

Try to find out if its the same frame as you need. If it was direct coupled to a pump you won't have any easy way to adapt it.

That will be a c-face motor. Almost impossible to fit to a compressor.

Great, thank you all for the help. I will let that motor go and keep looking for a used one, before I bite the bullet and buy a new motor.
