I used Wirsbo (now Uponor) PEX tubing for the infloor system - http://www.wirsbo.com/

They had a design handbook available when I did mine that gave all the sizing and design calculations in it.

I'm looking at adding a baseboard system on the second floor to tie into the same supply system.

Are you going infloor or baseboard? Weil Mclain makes some nice boilers either way.

I'm going baseboard. the floor is already poured. I've heard that hot water heat is a bit more expensive to install, but cheaper to operate...

It's definatly more expensive to install and I'd say more expensive to operate as well. The bad thing about hot water heat is you can't just go in and jack the thermostat up and get heat right away. It has to heat all the water up before it starts to generate heat. A forced air system will start making heat right off the bat. Alot can be done with hot water though. If you plan to keep a steady temp all winter long it may be your best bet.
