Hot when plugged in?

Just got a new Metabo die grinder. Plugged it in to test it out and all seemed well. Left it plugged in. Came back a few hours later & picked it up & the back of it near the speed dial is very warm. Not hot, but quite warm.

Is this normal? I wouldn't think it'd be warm at all just from being plugged in.

Was it somehow still turned on? Something resting on the on/off switch? Does the owners manual say anything about where the speed dial should located when the unit is turned off?

If it was turned off and still gets hot then there's current leakage. I would take it back as this could be a fire hazard.

Yeah, stays warm right around the speed dial when plugged in. Did use it for a couple hours off/on today & it seems to run great. Gets quite warm in use though, but I wouldn't say overly so. It seems the fan is just enough to keep it from getting very hot while it's running, then it actually gets warmer 10 minutes after shutting it off before it starts to cool down.

Unplugged now. Now that it's been used, will plug it in again later on & see.
