What is everyone in hotter climate weather doing as far as install? I know how short the pot life of epoxy is and living in Vegas isn’t going to help me.

I have to get my flooring done soon. I’ve been putting it off waiting for a cooler day but it just isn’t happening. Looking for some tips

Place your materials in the house (with air-conditioning on) approx 4 hours before coating begins or longer. This will buy you more time.

Also.... if you are using a 100% solids epoxy, once mixed, you should be dumping most of it on the floor, working from the floor. It's ok to reserve a little bit in a small bucket for edges.

Good luck and we coat here in FL 365!! no issues.

What have the temps been in the middle of the night?

Temps in the night time have been 80s. Just trying to figure out what time is best to start to stay out of the heat I have read your write up in how to install epoxy like 6 times.

This is good to hear. I figured installers didn’t stop just cause it was hot. I just want to make sure I’m doing everything as best as I can being a DIYer. I plan to pour, notch squeegee, and 18” back roll. The product is already inside my home ready to go.

Per manufacturer I am going to be doing a primer, primer+flake, epoxy, poly top coat. My primer is my color coat. Does this sound right?

So I was thinking
Day 1
1300 hours- prime
0700 hours- prime/full broadcast
1900 hours- epoxy

Day 2
Depending on if cured sometime between
0700-1200 poly.

And let cure

I am quite confused while your second step is prime / broadcast. Your first step should be to prime. Your second step should be to apply your "epoxy" and add your Fleck. Lastly, your 1-2 coats of poly.

That’s how it was explained to me by the concrete specialty store I purchased the product from. I just figured since my primer is my color coat that was how it was to be applied.

My epoxy and poly are both clear.

I have a call in to the manufacture but haven’t heard back from them and I have all my helpers coming to help me Sunday morning. Any help?

Hi, keep the materials inside to keep cooler, mix smaller batches of the epoxy, and do the job in the am when it’s cooler, keep materials in shade and you should be fine..
Epoxy can be mixed at any quantity as long as you hold the mix ratio proper, the product doesn’t know how much is being mixed, just that it’s mixed correctly.

Thank you! I have them inside in your dining area already ready to go. My concern now is I was instructed to primer 1st coat, primer+ flake second coat, epoxy, then topcoat.

Normally the sequence is prime, then epoxy with flakes, then topcoat with nonskid.
