House air conditioning question (adjusting fan speeds)

I have a Keeprite two stage high efficient furnace & AC installed in 2010 . has been flawless except for a coil leak last year .
I've always thought the a/c blower speed was a bit slow but i figured that's the way it is.
But, I've recently discovered , if the stat is calling for cold & the ac is on, if the power goes out, when it comes back on, the fan is at a higher speed. I have duplicated this by turning off the breaker, and also one time by opening the furnace cover.
The fan stays on that speed until the stat shuts off, then on restart it's back to the slower speed.
the higher speed moves more air, it doesn't seem to run as long and the air is still cold ( not like it's passing the coils too fst) I realize there is temp differentials in setting these up, but I'm curious how or why this does this, and if I can set the fan to always be at the higher speed?

I'm not familiar with your specific machine and its form of speed adjustment. All I've seen to change the speed is jumpers on the control board or landing the fan wiring on different terminals.

As for desired fan speed, a higher cfm per ton will run less as you noticed, but it will have less effect on the latent heat in the house which will lead to a higher humidity and less comfort within the home, in addition to the noise increase from the air velocity through the duct and registers.

I tend to set my fan speeds as slow as possible while maintaining proper superheat and adequate air exchanges within the space. I prefer the reduced noise with the increased humidity removal. The extended run time does not bother me in the least.

You would need to do some research. That's an ICP company .. that's owned by united technologies ... who own Carrier.

I did a carrier two speed back in 06 -- it used a blower motor that would monitor static pressure. Infinity controls ... Zoned in my case. Nice system.

The later systems would allow a duct test and the system would remember ... so there could be elements of other companies in your system.
