Appreciate all the effort it took to set up the file.
I'm having a little trouble opening Phase 2 but maybe it just me.
Will try again.
The 120 year old house was interesting, lots of cleanup involved.
Is it difficult to get rid of old material in Kentucky? We are having more and more rules on what can be burnt at the dump at the lake. In the city it is just buried along with any other trash. At least at the lake as long as it isn't plywood, OSB, painted or stained it can be burned. Everything else has to be trucked a half hour away as the dump at the lake can not handle the volume. Sure drives costs up. Five years ago they would pretty well light a match to everything organic except shingles.
Where you able to repurpose any materials? Barn board, windows etc?

Very nice home and can’t wait to see the barn

What was the start date (tear down) of the job and end date for the house?

We actually tore the house down in the fall of 2017, I got my drawings and permits, we dug the hole early April 2018, it took 7 months and one week to finish. I still need to finish grade and landscape (and get some bond $$ back)

How old was the original farmhouse? It looked kinda cool.

Farm house was 121 years old when I tore it down, I had to get a permit to tear it down. It had set vacant for approx 10 years, someone had done a somewhat shotty quick flip on it and it didnt work. Tree fell on the roof and left a big whole in it. Raccoons set up house for a very long time, they destoyed the interior, plus the smell was pretty bad. I was able to save a lot of floor joists- true 2 1/4" x 12 1/2" x 16', I salvaged the stone on both fireplaces and we saved a FP mantle, the bride re- finished it, it is on our MBR for decoration. Several beams and boards on the foundation were rotted out, house was settling on one side, it needed to be tore down. You could not see back up the driveway from the street, when I bought it I kept thinking I had more debris than the day before and then caught someone dumping tree limbs brush ect, so I put a gate up.

Very nice house, great job! I love the concrete porch decks, those will never rot away.
The barn photos are not accessible without signing in, so I can't see them. :(

Very nice build. Love that Front door!

Bret
Thanks, we looked at doors, doors, doors at several different places, one of the big box stores had the exact same door cheaper, I ended up buying my exterior doors and my windows from the same building supply company, they both came with a warranty which I hope I never have to use. The door at the big box store had a 90 day warranty after installation.

Nice work!

Beautiful dog, too! You didn't happen to get your pup from Michigan, did you? Looks just like my brown lab / pitt mix. Just with a tail nip, and obviously more obedient than my crazy Josie dog.

Ha!! No, I drove up to Ohio to get my pup. He is a German Shorthaired Pointer, very energetic and loyal, spent a lot of time training him, he's my right hand man!!
I grab my keys and he runs to my truck, he is popular at HD
