Hey guys, there is a school auction online in the Houston area that has a MASSIVE amount of stuff...

Lathes mills, 2 and 4 post lifts, welding machines, arbor presses, old diagnostic machines, etc

Prices are low and the auction has less than 5 hours left.

This was not a well publicized listing. I'm on that site every day, and I didn't notice it until today.

Check it out:

the listing titles are misleading in the extreme, so click thru on them...

(no affiliation or benefit to me, but this is the kind of auction I'd have been really po'd to miss.)

Wow!! There's some pretty awesome stuff there at a good price. Wish I was closer. I could use those tables with the lockers underneath for $50.00. That's a steal.

Thanks for wasting about an hour of my time. Used up about all my willpower resisting bidding on the lifts. But I am bookmarking this site for when I am ready to start stocking a garage. If stuff like this is available then, it will save thousands of sawbucks.

Whew, some furious bidding at the last minute. I got a couple of things, including a lathe I now have to find room for :)

Still a second round going at 730 tonight with some great stuff.

As a taxpayer in this district, I would like to get stuff for myself as cheaply as possible, and yet anything I don't get I want to bring good money for the district. :)

Hope it was useful to someone, I wouldn't normally do a borderline sp@m post, but MAN there were a lot of mills and lathes....

I guess I must of missed the good stuff. The only thing that peaks my interest is they have a pallet of "used industrial equipment" which looks like a bunch of NOS street lights!

zuk,
Are you willing to ship any items that we might purchase? Not lifts or things like that but smaller items. I'd be willing to pay you for your time and trouble as well as the shipping,of course.

iajonesy, sorry I missed your post yesterday. With a 2 yo and a 4 yo, once dinner/bath/story/bed starts it's a mad rush until they are asleep.

I'd be happy to pick up and ship small stuff. I've got to pick my stuff up too. This sale wasn't too far from my house and shop, so even easier.

There have been several auctions where I wished someone local could get whatever awesome thing I wanted for me and ship it.

The antique machine tool guys even have an unofficial network of folks to move heavy stuff across the country cheaply, by going from volunteer to volunteer. Takes a while but it is cheap.

I posted the link because of all the good stuff that was super cheap with only a short time left. This auction was only listed for a couple of days, and was WAY under publicized. And the titles-- "Furniture with misc tools" where the "misc tools" was 2 big lathes! Some of it went for what I would have expected, but some still was way cheap. Some competition at the end, but still good deals to be had.

I got a lathe, delta unisaw, the storage bins, and some misc, including parts of a cnc mill based around the little sherline mill, and it looks like there is a wilton bullet vise in one of the lots too. I stopped short on the pexto stomp shear, the multiple mill lot, the brand new unisaw, the 20" bandsaw and a couple of other lathe lots. Lots of stuff I'd bid on, if I had room to put the stuff!

damn, I missed out! Congrats on your score. How much did you pay for the Unisaw?
