From time to time Ive thought- why isnt there a plumbing section?

Afterall, there can be quite a bit of plumbing to deal with in a garage or shop.

Just today someone posted a thread in the electrical section about gas lamp posts. Definitey would be better off in a plumbing section...

So how about setting up a plumbing section?

Do people really read the forum by sections?

I don't - I usually just go to 'what's new' or 'new posts' and skim the posts until I find something that looks interesting. I could care less what actual 'section' it is in. Free parking works for just about anything

I plumbed all my compressed air supply lines and I used plumbing supplies. What section would that go if I made a thread on it? HAHA.
But yeah I do enough plumbing and would like to see a section for it. DIY boiler install to natural gas too.

Yes i do. And i know many others do as well.

The electrical section gets quite a few threads transfered to it from other sections because it didnt get any or many responses in the other sections. The mods end up moving it and tell the OP they will get more response after its moved to the electrical section.

I mainly stay in the electrical section but once in awhile venture into other sections...

I've moved several threads to the Electrical Section as they are electrical in nature.

I've told the thread OPs they will get good advice in that section, because you guys in the section are good. In fact, you guys are awesome at sharing your knowledge.

I believe like many others, the need for a plumbing section. However, I believe changing the Heating and Cooling Section to Plumbing/HVAC would work. Around here, most of the work is done by the same guys.

I also read this forum, and browse it by sections. When I want to see something pertaining to an electrical issue I have for example, I open the Electrical forum and search inside that.

If I want to see what people have for sale, I search in the Classified section. If I want to see what other members want, I search inside the Wanted forum.

I have been a member here for over 6 years, and an avid reader of the site for at least 5 years before that.

I would also like to put in my vote for a dedicated plumbing forum, just like the Electrical forum. I think it would go great with what this site has to offer.

What about a sub forum for plumbing in the HVAC section? They do go together & could keep things from getting to cluttered.

Seems like a good idea to me. Especially since I’m not a plumber but wanting to learn more since I like hearing about different trades haha. It would be good if you had a plumbing question.

This gets brought up often and if I had my way we would lump electrical, plumbing, air systems, and hvac into one one section called Facilities. So many times these areas cross the line with problems having more than one trade that could fix the problem. So many times I see Joe homeowner come in with "My compressor isn't working..?" Where does the question go?

I asked for a compressed air section and it went nowhere. A section to combine "utilities" makes sense since compressed air combines plumbing, electrical, and appliances too.
