Now this is a difficult assignment Mr. Phelps.

This has been in the family for over 50 years: This is a good ratchet but it's a little heavy and kind of thick.

These have been in the family a long time as well: The only problem with there are they ****

But if you want to draw the line on actually purchased then this would be Elroy's oldest personal ratchet: These DON"T ****

This would be the most recent: These Almost ****

I'm definitely a newb compared to you guys. I have some ratchets from the late 90's. The raised panel craftsmans I got rid of. I'm sure I don't have anything older than 15yrs.
My newest is also a dual 80.

What are your brands? I'm guessing the newest ones are some Danaher stuff.
I don't see any markings on your oldest one.

other tech tried to use short ratchet to do all repairs but end up as use mine SLF936... :headscrat i was look like what the hell you do!! tech was said they tried to break loose the big bolt on Navigator's tracking bars... even their impact wrenches wont budget it...

yep..........smalller the better for me. unless the smaller ones won't work, there's no sense lugging the extra weight.

ha ha... i just hate the stubby ratchet because it is so smaller for my big hands.. i never try to use smaller tools to break loose because i already had my snap on guy rebuilt my snap on ratchets because i use it in tight area where i can do some of short cut... oops.. time is money... :spit:

My first ratchet was a Taiwanese 3/8 drive round head that came with a set of tools from Kmart that I got when I was ten and did a lot of bike mechanicing with. Got that 11 years ago now.

Last one I bought must of been a new Britain NB-55 I think (I haven't bought any ratchets since September).

Good thread

The oldest I bought in 78 after all my tools were stolen. I don't remember which was first the SO F730 3/8 or the Par-X UR7 1/4 but they were bought new within a few weeks of each other.

The newest came last Sunday the Plomb 5449 1/2 and about half hour later the SO F740 3/8.

That Mac MR4C is a pile - I broke mine on the first bolt I put it on. That was a 10 MM headed bolt used to hold on a throttle cable on a Ford 5.8 L.

Pffft!

My first on the left being a Huskey 3/8 flex head with a bent handle. Picked it up when I was 17 so it's about 10 years old now. I'm not particularly fond of it but kept it around because I didn't want to part with it. The bent handle has come in handy a few times. My newest is a SO F723A I got off ebay. I thought it was an FR936 and probably paid too much for it in a bidding war :p oh well. Still a formidable click-stick.

My oldest is the first Snap on ratchet that I purchased, TM830, pictured at the far left.
My newest is the Snap on FLF80 pictured to the left of the 3/8 blue handle breaker bar. After that I was done. The 80 tooth is SOOO SWEET. I have to have more of them. So many things to buy and so little money.

that Par-X is pretty cool. (the top one)
I don't think I've ever seen one like that, even with all these ratchet threads.
Do you have more picts of that one?

Thanks. I actually bought it in a set two extensions (2 and 6) 6 point sockets 3/16 -1/2 and a yellow plastic handled driver in the old SO style (clear plastic square with rounded corners).

I'll take some photos after work and post them.
