Does the mount on the first one rotate? If not then that may be worth considering because the two look like they mount at different angles in relation to the hose outlet.

I'd go with #1 hands down for two reasons. First, it is made of metal rather than plastic. Second, look at the mounting bracket on #2. It's a little metal bracket that is attached to the plastic housing. It hardly looks strong enough to hold up the assembly. Looks like one good tug to retract that hose and the whole thing is laying on the floor, or worse, on your Bullitt.

Reelcraft is a great name, USA made, HD construction. Id also look at coxreels, another High quality brand... My friends dad has a fewin his shop and they are very well built.

I agree for the same reasons... #1 for sure.

I didnt look at the threads but an familiar with Reelcraft. Very good but spendy. I have a few retractables, bought some short ones from Home Depot, very good and they had similar at TSC, under 50$ with hose. One I really like is the one from Wal-Mart, also 50$ 50 ft, never had a prob with it, not sure how long one might last if you were to use it like a yo-yo but for 50 a piece with hose they are hard to beat. I love the mounting on the Wal-Mart job, super simple, easy. I have some manuals also.

Of the two reels shown I would want #1 hands down no contest. Since I only have an old hand crank job I would also think I was doin something big to get any auto return hose reel!

#1 - we have the same reels in several locations in the plant here at Mitsubishi - they stand up well to the operator's abuse - and they can destroy almost anything.
