An alternate reality in a parallel universe.
Show me how you guys are organizing your extensions. Especially in your service carts, for me I have extensions all over the place - chrome - impact - straight, wobble, locking - 1/4", 3/8" & 1/2" adds up, this needing some form of organization.

I put them in a cutlery tray. Doesn't work too well with 1/2" or anything longer than 10" though..

I don't have that many so I just keep them in a narrow drawer on my tool box. Tool box drawers are 16" front to back to even the 10" ones fit.

A few slick ideas I have seen

1.) Snap like drive sizes together to make one long extension chain. Some people think this is hard on the springs? :dunno:

2.) Socket rail, put different drive size clips on one rail.

3.) Round bar clips, that grip the extension by the middle/round portion. Usually mounted to a board or the lid.

4.) Magnet bar at the back of a drawer, like the socket rail, but faster and not drive size specific.

5.) Silverware tray like abvw mentioned above.

Really don't have a lot (approx 15-20) so they go in the drawer with ratchets and breaker bars.

The ratchets are laid vertically/front-to-back/longitudinally/however-you-want-to-word-it according to size left to right at the front of the drawer. The breaker bars being longer are laid at the back of the drawer 90° to the ratchets. The extensions are laid the same way in front of the breakers. The breakers and ratchets keep them nicely corralled. No fancy trays or whatnot, just a rubber mat in the drawer. I keep the shorter extensions attached to each other by type and size: wobble & standard, 3"/6"/etc, 1/4-3/8-1/2"drive, finally el cheapos that I hung onto are off to one side for when someone wants to borrow one. :p

This is halfway ok, but I still need to get it mo' better. This is a top 40" drawer.

I only use a minimal amount of extensions but I found some scrap metal at work and made this to keep them from rolling around.

I think I used a 1U blank rack panel, found it in the scrap bin.

I just marked it out and cut it with a cut off wheel, painted it to finish it off.

They reside in one of my drawers in my 26" top box.
