Is this vinyl tile squares or vinyl sheet flooring. If its tile, is it 8x8 or 12x12?

I have a project now that has VCT tile with black mastic put down in the early 1980's or before and it contains a trace of category 1 non-friable asbestos. Basically it should not be sanded to be removed. Older 8x8 tile most likely also contains some within its composites.

Before deciding to sand, consider getting a test kit to be sure. There is one called "Pro-Lab Professional Asbestos Test Kit (As 108)" that is around $10 for the kit and a $30 lab fee. It is available on line at Sears and Ace Hardware and should be in their stores too. I don't mean to scare you, but its better to be safe than sorry.

asbestos.. lab fee.... :Twitch:

well.. i want to get rid of this residue and then polish the concrete so it would end up being nice and shinny, like the floors at home depot or lowes..

and the tiles are 8x8 and were installed back in 2001, so they are not that old, maybe they don't have asbestos??
