How can I light this weird situation?

Hi Guys. I'm new here.

Anyway, I have a little bike workshop in an attic with a low, sloped ceiling (joists). I've provided photos:

Previous owners left a shop light mounted on the side of one of the joists, which is annoying and wastes a lot of light.

Do there exist fixtures more appropriate for this situation? Something that allows for head room that can still spread out some light. I'm thinking some sort of wall-mount strip lights (mounted along the joists) that are able to caste light downward. Haven't seen any fixtures like that though.

Any thoughts?

High density led tape in aluminum extrusion channel in every rafter bay over the work area would work. You might need a lot of it but it is not that expensive.

I would use edge lit in between rafters. Low ceiling heights required many low output fixtures to get even shadow free comfortable lighting. Here's a low cost option (link). These are also dimable so you can really go nuts balancing the light to your comfort level.

Avoid any fixture or strips where you can see the individual LEDs. At low mounting heights bare LEDs are intolerable.

You might also consider painting the exposed roofing areas white between the joists, which would help reflect the light you install. Dark colored ceilings don't help with light dispersion.

I framed in some 4' troffers into the rafters before drywalling the ceiling.

Look into those small fixtures that mount under kitchen cabinets.

I have successfully used Brite-Sticks.

Good stuff so far!

I like the idea of strip lights on the "ridges" of the joists. The roof is so low near the bench that I actually need some headroom between the joists in some situations.

Having more lower-level lights instead of fewer, bigger ones makes sense too.
