The flu is for a gas heater on the first floor

The electrical is in the attic and is over 30 feet from the furnace

Is that transite (spell check) pipe? Looks like an old plumbing stack.
I'd be more worried about the crack in that hub than the romex myself.

Right after asbestos started becoming a issue, got rid of all the Transite gas vents even though they were no longer being used, due to to water heater relocations, & furnace replacements it is a move was glad I did.

Have to agree with the comments already made, the wiring is fine, but the cracks in the pipe are worrisome.

looks like its being held together with bailing wire. That crack is huge.

id be way more concerned about that than the proximity of the wire

time for a new flue pipe

The stains are old

The county surveyor noted the house in 1878

The tax assessor measured the house in 1890

The flu in question was installed in 1938

Today’s finds working in the attic

In addition to more abandoned wiring, the knob and tube stuff all appears to have been abandoned in 1938, but I am finding old cloth romex that just comes up into the attic and ends, time for more wire nuts and handi boxes
