How could my saw be leaking?

Ok, I'm a bit stumped .

I have the 4x6 HF metal cutting bandsaw. It leaks all of the oil out of the gear case.

I took it apart once and replaced the seal. It still leaks when in the down position. The only place it could possibly be leaking is through the seal. Even if the shaft was slightly out of round, shouldn't the seal still do its job with that small amount of deviation from round?

What could I possibly be missing here? I want to use the saw, and this is getting frustrating!

Thanks!

I just ran the saw with the blade pulley off and no leaks so far. Tomorrow night I'll install the pulley and try it with the blade tensioned.

The blade guide police and such are coated in oil and metal dust. Any suggestions on something similar to carb cleaner, **** which won't eat paint?

Thanks!

Could polish the casing and cover faces. Is it leaking from the shaft or is there like a pan cover? I know engine pans sometimes get funky.

Could be a worn bearing. When you add tension to the band wheel the shaft will get pulled slightly of center making a spot for oil to leak. Still if the seal behind the wheel is leaking you should see oil all over the drive wheel.

Maybe the seals you're using for replacements are not compatible with the oil you're using or visa versa. You never mentioned whether or not you're using factory seals with factory oil.

Just regular heavy weight gear oil.

I'll see how it does today with tension on the blade pulley.

Thanks!
