I would specify that you want 4500 pound mix and to have fiber added to the mix. One thing to be careful about is how much water is added to the mix when the truck arrives. Many concrete contractors like to water down the mix because it is easier to place in distant places from the truck. This weakens the mix dramatically. If the truck can back into the building and get close to where the floor is going to be poured, then that is the best way. The less wheel-borrowing the product, the easier it is on the personnel. You also might consider having a pumping truck if the concrete truck can't get into the building. That is a very large pour, and will take a lot of men to handle it. My quick calculation based on 30' x 60' x 4", it will take about 22 yards of concrete.

What is actually more important than the thickness of the concrete, is how stable the base is that the concrete is being poured over. I also like to use plastic under the concrete, but not for keeping moisture from coming up through the floor, but to keep the moisture in the concrete for a longer period of time, so it cures more slowly, and that adds strength.

I think 6 inches is what my contractor was palnning on with reinforcements. I think he said it would be about a month till I could pull a car in there.

You can put a car in the building a lot sooner than that.

We're working with 12" slabs all the time. At 7 days of cure, every kind of wheeled construction equipment known to man goes across them.

28 days of cure basically gives you the design strength of the concrete or maybe a little more. All depends on curing conditions.

Your math is about right, but your ideas on concrete pouring are way off.

22 yards is a small pour, and having a pump truck for a pole barn is ridiculous.

And I'd give it at least 48 hours before driving on it.
