How did I do? (24X24)

So I built another garage due to having to move. I spent the money on the outside and decided to try to be a little more economical on the inside especially given the soaring costs of materials.

Outside is normal shingles and vinyl siding. Heat is provided by a heat pump I installed all by myself.

For the inside walls I used 1/4" meranti board. The corners are either 2x3s or 2x2s. Windows were cased in 1x4 strapping. The blue strip is left over 5/8 OSB from the roof. That wood wall is above where my work bench will be. The colours were an ever evolving choice/process. Some people weren't a big fan of the colours I chose for my last garage so I am curious what people thing about this. It's actually grey, not baby blue.

I wasn't the biggest fan of peg board so I just used 2x12s, you can screw any hook to those. I bought them in 4' lengths as 'cull wood'. $2 a piece. I've got a decal/stencil of something cool I will put over it.

The only work I subbed out was the excavating/concrete. I did everything else solo.

It's almost time to move all my stuff in.

I like it.

What's your thoughts on not putting a 16' door on?

I gave that a lot of thought. That's what I had on my last 24X24 garage. Reason I didn't this time is on the advice of my neighbour who runs a construction company. He said 16 is too wide for the winds we get here and will just give me grief. It does get windy here often. That garage is at the end of a cul-du-sac and faces down the street in the directing of the prevailing winds.

Also, hoist goes on one side and work space goes on the other. I never really used the whole 16 last time nor did I ever have more than one car in there. So I now have a 12 that is shifted a little more of the centre.

Maybe I will be fine with it....maybe I will regret it.

I like it also. Are you going to surprise us on the decal you’re putting on the wall?

Some of the best garages on the board are where the owner does most of the work and sources materials form elsewhere.

Yes, it will be a surprise because I am not sure the decal shop can make if for a reasonable price.

The one thing I am happy I was able to source was the red Class A gravel as well as the large red river stone. I really like it a lot more than the standard grey Class A. The stones go alone my entire back yard to tie it all together. Made the wife happy.

What's the kit you used for the heat pump line enclosure? I haven't been able to find one that fits the lines on my mini split where they come through the wall.

Good looking building, I especially like the boards between the windows.

Amazon Canada link

Pioneer Air Conditioner Decorative PVC Line Cover Kit for Mini Split Air Conditioners and Heat Pumps - WYS-LCVR-KIT

Takes a bit of squeezing to get it to fit and work but other than that it was a pretty decent kit. Screws all appear to be stainless which is a nice touch.

That garage looks really nice.

How did you line the back yard with the stone was that all done by hand or a small machine?
