I'm off to pick this puppy up. It's a older model - 5" pipe instead of 6" pipe.
Only $65 ...

Probably going to soak the chain but that's about it. Thought about breaking it down and giving it some paint....but that will just add more to the long spring to do list I already have

To stabilize it , measure from the stand to a concrete ceiling, cut a piece of galv pipe to fit, install and tighten, its called a jackscrew.

Very nice find and a good price too. I have the exact same one. I paid $60 for mine, but it would have been $75 if I hadn't packaged it together with about $150 in other tools from the same garage sale.

I don't know if it matters to you or not but tri-stands make great supports for chainsaws for quick hand sharpening away from home. It just requires a simple mod. Also if you make a plate for the clamp out of scrap steel it will grip PVC very well without marring the pipe. If I remember correctly my plate was made out of a blank electrical box cover. I also made a simple rectangular box that fits on the threaded support screw so I could use a 2x4 to anchor the tri-stand instead of needing a custom length iron pipe. Much easier to find laying around the average home.

Good, if you needed it yesterday great. Pipe vises in general, especially chain type, have a very low used value and narrow market. They are very handy if you do any sorts of fab work with tube/pipe.

Thats a pretty good buy. I use the **** out of mine, but I do a fair bit of pipefitting at work.

Super handy tools to have for doing any sort of pipe or tube work.

I will disagree with that statement. Ridgid brand pipe equipment holds value very well. Pipe cutters, power threaders, hand threaders, reamers, tristands etc. are some of the best in the industry and always bring top dollar on the used market.

mobiledynamics made a great score, those are hard to find under $150, so @ $65 he did very well. :rocker:

That said, ↓
