I finally sold my 40" CM box today for 500. I think I got above market since the drudge of boxes on the market currently. What would have been your fair offer?

I wouldn't have paid $500 for it, but I'm cheap :lol_hitti. How much did you pay for it? That's what I would gauge it from. I have friends who took it in the nads when selling their $10k SO boxes. One guy let it go for $1000 because he needed the money.

I bought it for $800 4 years ago, the paint and metal work were perfect when i bought it, though.

If I had really need it I would probably have topped out at $400, if it was really clean, had drawer liners and the keys to go with it. I like the bottom box, but not the top. Anymore than that and I could get a 44" HF (better quality considered by some) brand new top and bottom for slightly more.

On the selling side I probably would list it at $525 and expect to take $400-500, again depending on the in person condition. I think you got around top dollar for that box. Craftsman boxes have the highest resale value % of new than any other box manufacture. I contribute that to the fact craftsman is a household name.

EDIT, used box values can be very regional and competitive with the local market.

You did great IMO. I'm assuming you already bought a replacement box before selling that one? If not I'm sure that 5 bills is burning a hole in your pocket while finding a replacement one:thumbup:. I HATE doing the tool box shuffle even though I did find a $20 bill someone must have left in there for a favor I did him/her some years back. I know damn sure I wouldn't have forgotten about it:bounce:.

Here is the build total

Salvaged angle from CL-45
Sandblasting angle-20
Nylocks and bolts-25
Plywood dato'ed to fit in between angle- Handle of rot gut and OJ

Got paid to build the base(awesome boss)- 100
