Oh, yeah, some of you guys have dirty jobs.:eyecrazy:

About the worst that I've been is working in a hot attic doing install or repair work on an AC. At the end of the day, you come out looking like a fiberglass-feathered chicken. :lol_hitti

Maybe not as dirty as some of you all, but definitely NOT fun.

I used to get muddy working as a cable guy. Hooking up a new house takes a bit of work on the outside wall where the utilities enter the house. If there's no guttering on the house, there's a mud puddle that runs along the edge of the house where I had to work when it rained. Of course, once inside, the new home owner would not want mud tracked on the new carpet. Even if I took off my boots, my socks were usually soaked as well. Bonneyman mentioned attic work. All I can add to that is I concur. I don't miss that job.

foundry mechanic for a while.... making ductile iron pipe... they literally spray black dust everywhere at all times, metal dust sprayed into molds, blacking laid down in layers in the troughs to keep the iron from burning through, clay being beat up coming off of the ladels, smoke from everything burning when some iron gets spilled, grease falling out of every bearing and anything that had grease in it due to the heat, water sprayed everywhere making anything no coated instantly rust. if you walked through the plant once you were covered in black dust, now imagine crawling into tight spaces, and getting into the dirty areas of it. the pump room and basement where the metal that didn't get cast fell into was constantly full of everything from the surface, but packed into a soggy mush, and was always flooding with at least 6-8" of water, when it got bad 12-18"... yeah it was a bit dirtier than some brake dust or some weld vents.

Diesel mechanic. The joke is, my fingertips only get dirty if my computer keyboard is dirty. I do a lot of diagnostic work, which involves a lot of playing with a computer and I take a lot of flak for it.

Power equipment mechanic - some days it's nice and clean - tuning up string trimmers and a reddyheater the other day, other days it can be doused with hydraulic oil, diesel fuel, smeared in grease crawling over and throughout a skid steer. this time of year tuning up snowblowers isn't too dirty, but in spring with the lawnmowers I came out of the service shop filthy every day. Cleaning the dirt/dust/grass/decayed grass off machines covers everything in the shop too and it stays that way for ages. Got one of the counter guys doing inventory in there now and he's in a tyvek suit with dust mask and gloves trying to stay clean. Tough to read the inventory reports after touching the inventory then the page tho.
