How do I light this antique heater?

I bought a house recently, and the stand-alone garage has a large furnace installed. The fan starts up when the unit is plugged in, but I'm not sure where the pilot light is. Anyone have experience with units like this?

That thing may not have a pilot , years ago you turned on the gas and lite the burner until you were happy and turn it way down but before you do Anything clean the dang burner . And then you'll see if there is a pilot assembly
There should be some kind of plate with the name and model on it , if so do a search for that unit and I'm sure you'll find something.
But I can not see enough to know what the heck is what.

Agreed: that heater appears to me to be at the end of its life.

I would light that thing in a heartbeat. I used to work in a place that had hanging gas heaters that were older than that and they worked perfectly.

It's got a thermocouple ( copper line) and a pilot line (aluminum line) Pull them both and clean the pilot out well but gently. Pull the burners out and clean everything them look up in the heat exchanger. Of there's not big cracks Put it back together and I'll bet she works...

There should be a couple screws on the bottom of the back of the unit, pull those and the whole bottom should swing down to the front. That should give you access to the burners... Just pay attention to what your taking apart...
