How do I put a quote in a post?

This is probably really simple but I need some help. If I post a message, how do I quote someone in it? Somebody will make a comment or have a question, and another person will leave a reply that contains the quote. How do I do this? Thanks in advance.

Click on the "quote" button (or the "multi quote" button if you want to quote more than one reply in your reply). Edit your reply as needed to remove extraneous verbage

-or- put the word 'quote' inside brackets - [ ] at the start of what you want to 'quote' & put /quote inside brackets at the end of what you want to quote. example - replace the parenthesis with brackets and this:
(quote)Eric sure is a smart, handsome & humble guy(/quote)
becomes:

Eric sure is a smart, handsome & humble guy
