long story short - i bought a previously bought/returned M12 kit from HD.. got home and all the packing was already ripped open, and the batteries are not identical to one another.. i just want to be able to tell how old they are, and im told the date is somewhere in the serial numbers.. (dewalt's 12v batterries just have the date stamped right on them) so anyway here are both serial numbers.. can someone please tell me where the date is? Thanks -

"130221U" and "R120629"

My guess would be one was made on 02-21-13 and 06-29-12.

My M12's bought in 2011 have that year as the first digits and the ones I bought recently have 14 as the first digits. The only thing that would make sense for the rest would either be week or day of the year.

ok so its 00/00/00 = yr/mo/day

so one is 6/29/12 and the other is 2/21/13.. do these seem like they should be in set i just bought? the kit came with a free "xc" battery too.. the date on that is 7/11/14.. im thinking someone swapped out old batteries from the kit and returned it.

the m12 ratchet i bought last month, date is 5/16/14

i wonder what the letters mean? maybe the place/country it was made?

No, I was following your post in the other thread. I bought the same $99 kit and just looked at one of my batteries from it, 6/2014. I think your batteries should have been made in 2014.

Were you the one that posted you bought a kit that was opened and no packaging?

The dates wouldn't be that old or far apart in a new kit that was just recently introduced for sale .

Just an FYI ----

Milwaukee's warranty on tools & batteries are based on purchase date (with receipt) OR manufacture date (without receipt). So, if you get batteries that are 2 years old.....if they break the next day & you dont save your receipt....you are going to not be eligible for a warranty replacement.

well i dediced i needed to either return this set and get another OR see if HD would replace the 2 batteries for me.. HD is out of stock online, none in my store, and no more is any local store.. spoke with the manager, explained the whole story - he took the two old batteries and gave me a a brand new 2 pack.. they even gave me a receipt for them in case i have any issue, and appologized for the inconvience..
if i really wanted to be slick - i could return the 2 pack for the $75 it rang up for, and keep the set with the "XC" pack since i have the m12 ratchet with a battery anyway.. BUT - ill keep em, im happy and fair is fair.. thanks for the help guys.
