I just recently acquired this Snap On Tool Box from a local SO Dealer.

The tool box (KR-657B) needs some love and at the moment I am not sure if I am going to fully restore it or just clean it up as best as I can.

I do know I will be banging out a few dents and seeking to have a new graphic made.

He offered to warranty out the slides but I need to remove them first, how do I go about that?

Thanks,

FF40

Glad I do not need the feeler gauge as I have the most trouble those!

Thanks for the link! Not sure if I am going to flip it or keep it! It is a nice roller. Might keep my body work tools in this...not sure.

Take an old hacksaw blade and out a bend in it. Insert into the friction slide with the drawer open you should feel a release. I had an old snap on box and that did the trick for me

I tried that with a previous box and it took me forever. There was an older guy in the shop that actualy had the SO tool. Took his minutes to dissemble a few drawers! It was pain staking! He actually gave me the tool, since the box he had it for was long gone. Still does not make it any easier, just need the magic touch!

You should have asked me before I came out I would have brought the tool.
I could have shown you.
A hack saw blade will work just remove the teeth.

HEY!

I do have the tool and it does not make the job easier! It is hard to master!

Anyhow I removed the drawers with ease. At first I started removing the drawers that were an issue that did not last long, I pulled out off the drawers and slides. I cleaned off all the dirt and residue and lubed them up. I happened to bring a few bent slides back to life. 3 were just to far gone. I figure I would save the NOS ( i hope they have replacements) for the rest of us. I will find out tomorrow if my SO dealer shows up.

For some reason, I have the itch to restore the box and I do not have the slightest clue why as I despise body work. With in the next few days, I will seek out a few good step by step restoration threads. I bought this box to flip, but after putting work into it, I know I will be inclined to keep it.
