I want to build a basic storage shed and want to use T-111 as the siding. I've noticed that it always rotts on the bottom foot or so after a few years. I'd like to prevent that.
I plan on painting the T-111 and caulking the bottom edge where it meets up to the sub floor but I still see a lot of rot on sheds that have done similar.
Should I soak the bottom 2 feet both sides and edge in something like Thompsons Water Seal and then paint both sides before appling to the studs? Is there a better method? Does latex paint even stick to Thompsons?
Thanks...
