most ratchets i broke come from dirt getting in the gears. but most tools i broke come from misuse.
How do ratchets break - I've never broke one??

supertooljunkie, I think i broke 3 or 4 of them.... and guess what! I was working on a VW Axle NUT TOO! LOL! Those aircooled VWs can be rough on tools! I also broke allot of 36MM sockets; finally bought a deep well impact socket and I also used this tool as well with a sledge hammer!Ahh, the joys of working on aircooled VW's!

When I was a young boy my dad had a shop. He specialized in VW's (nothing but air cooled then) He was the only guy within 75 miles that worked on them. My very first engine build was on a 25 hp VW. I always loved that you could have the engine out in a matter of minutes.
