How do y'all sheetrock around a 16' door?

Hi y'all.

Got an existing detached 2 car garage that i've insulated and drywalled, but don't quite know what to do at the 16' door, since it is already installed.

Clopay shows 2x6's up the sides and across the top, but these aren't here on mine. If I add them, I'll have to take the brackets loose, unwind the spring.....

Is there some easier, better way to do this? I'd rather not have the sheetrock just stop and leave a gap to the door brackets.

Thanks for the help.

Normally, the framing above and along side the door would be overflush to the wall studs just like a regular door jam...and you just **** the drywall up to it. It might need a trim piece to look really finished...but most don't bother if the drywall cuts are done well so its just a small gap.

Sounds like yours was maybe done with no plan to ever drywall so it's all flush???? You could bring it close and then trim it out in wood or just use that plastic drywall edge cover (J-shaped and gets slid on before you hang the sheet, paintable, cheap).

logical,

Yes, there was probably no intention when it was built to add sheetrock.

Thanks for the idea of the plastic trim pieces. I'll look for that. That might be the easiest.

Thanks for the help.

I've got the same issues with my garage. Does any one have pictures or know of where to go look for those trim pieces? Thanks.

I just got it a Lowes or Home Depot...same area as the corner bead. It just slides over the raw cut edge...maybe 1/2 inch. Trim-Tex.com, J bead. Also used sometimes where drywall is under a window so no moisture seeps into the rock.
