How do you blow off steam after work?

This past week, I was informed we were short a body or two at work and I offered to come in (on overtime) on my day off to help out. 8am rolls around, no call, I figure I'm in the clear. 9am comes and the phone rings, asking me to get there by 10. Traffic cooperated, so I got there on time.
At the end of the day, had an hour to kill and decided to check out the local pawn shop. Spent about an hour there, picked up a 1/2 ratchet, couple of Channel Lock pliers and a set of ball end allen wrenches. Laid down a Hamilton.
Could have gone to a bar and hung out for a while, but it hit the spot by going to to pawn shop and treating myself at the end of working my day off.
What do you do to blow off steam at the end of the work day?

Chill a little bit. Sometimes I'll mess around with my RC car. Sometimes at the end of a week I'll check out a bar and listen to the band thats playing. I go on here and other forums and see whats going on.

I generally have a pretty long commute home, usually no less than 1 1/2 hours. I've found that the commute home, unless it's bumper to bumper is pretty relaxing and I can wind down that way. Plus if I really need to get my mind off of something, I can take a scenic route home.

In my opinion nothing relieves stress better than firearms. I like to get out a couple times a weekto go shooting in the hills about a 1/2 hour away. It feels great.

Usually I'll fiddle with the boat or something simple after work. Really simple things are about all I have time for after doing the chores and yardwork anymore.

usually head out to the garage for an hour or so after work - always have some sort of project going on out there to keep myself busy. After sitting at a desk for a good part of the day answering users' questions or doing whatever other mundane task comes my way, it's a good way to take the edge off.

Internet. Either garage journal forum, ford truck enthusiasts forum, or craigslist. That or either sit around thinking about my trucks, or actually work on my trucks. It helps that I don't have TV. I hate TV.

Nothing that requires much physical or mental exhertion. My favorite ways to chill after a long day, go on the computer, go to a car race (one in which I'm not working on a crew or racing myself), get an ice cold Slurpee, water my garden (the water relaxes me), go to the beach or clean up my shop (just putting stuff away, nothing that requires any thought)!

My son and I go for a 2.2 mile walk to the local train station and watch a couple of Amtrak trains go by and then my wife picks us up and we go home. The walk is for exercise and fitness but it was also to get into the habit of doing something that's good for us. It's a habit now and we feel like we missed something if we can't go, usually because of heavy rain or other obligation.

I work two jobs so after getting home from the 2nd one I usually have my 7 year old read to me, watch the 3 Stooges with my 5 year old, do some work to get ready for the next day etc.

I drive 50 miles, 49 of it through river valleys and farms. Very relaxing. I go about half way, and then I have one of three routes to take. Variety is the spice of life.

My one year old grandson and my daughter live with us. I play with him as long as hes not whiney. If hes whiney he goes to mama... It doesn't matter how pissy of a day you have the little guy makes it all better. When he is happy, he is the happiest guy you ever seen. When hes pissed off, well he takes after me on that part.

He is one year old this week. Thats going to be my little buddy for many years.

Between playing with the little guy and spending as much time with my 15 year old son. Thats about all the free time I have.

I come home, listen to how my kids (twin 11 yr old boys) day at school was, cook dinner for us if my wife is at the gym (usually 3x a week), go down to the garage and work on slot cars for friday night racing. Then get kids ready for bed and bang wife when she gets home from the gym.

Good answer. I play a lot with my nephew who is 2. He likes build with Legos and playing with my tools especially the Bosch 18 V drill(no bit and under constant supervision.)

Play with my dog. I usually keep her in her crate while i'm at work. So when I let her out, she's very hyper/excited to see me, jumping all over me & trying to lick me to death. once she gets bored with that we got for a walk, thne i feed her. After that, either read some forums online, check facebook, or watch TV. Mess around in the garage, work on my lionel trains, do something with a firearm or 2. Now that spring is here I have a couple yards to cut. Takes up time, but it's extra money in my pocket.
