How do you carry your Knipex XS pliers?

Hi, everyone. I have the XS Cobras and Pliers Wrench, but don't have the pouch. I was just wondering if there were any unique ways to carry those little guys without being loose in a pocket (which already is filled with loose junk). Thanks!

Adding photo for visual appeal!

I keep them in a small-ish pouch on the side of my backpack that I bring with me every day.

Do your pants have a watch/coin pocket? I carry the 5” comfortably in there.

These are the pinnacle of social media convincing people they need **** that they dont
they do come in handy quite a bit though :) I don't think I would carry them in my pockets all the time though, but for a light weight item to keep in a back pack, they are perfect :)

I don’t EDC any pliers but I carry a pair of the 125s when I volunteer at a county park doing trail work.
The small adjustable and Knipex allow me to tighten the 3/8” carriage bolts holding our footbridges together.

No argument that they can come in handy, just the idea that they should be in an "Edc kit" is the part that is silly. I bet it you take a look at Edc videos on YouTube, these are in the majority.

I'll get off my own lawn now

We'll see when I get one at Christmas (I have one of their ornaments) lol

Honestly, my EDC amounts to a spyderco bug on my keychain...that's enough. I don't want more in my pockets but vehicles have small tool kits and if I'm at home, I'm close enough to any tool I could possibly want.

When I'm out on gigs I pack a dewalt tote bag with the few odds and ends I need for basic repairs (tool kit is still in the vehicle after all) and will throw that in one of the bins with cables, usually a pair of knipex somethings end up in there.

I carry the cobra’s at work in my front pocket. I use them daily in a manufacturing environment, they took the place of channel lock model 420. I wouldn’t mind getting a belt sheath for them.

I use mine XS cobras all the time, to the extent that I'd rather carry them and a small knife instead of one of my multi tools for the majority of day to day things around the house and shop. The cobras generally live in my front left pocket along side my card wallet and occasionally car keys. Back left pocket gets a small belt clip knife, right front is cell phone. Right rear doesn't get used much at all. I don't carry the plier wrench only because I have only the 7" and 10" models currently.

I can't find any use for them other than for the EDC bros to show off to their EDC bro pals.
I use mine every day at work, many times a day. I work on a lot of machinery where I need a tool to keep the opposite side's nut or bolt head from spinning while I zip the fastener tight with an impact from the other. These fit anywhere and are perfect for that. My coworkers used to get me to toss mine to them so many times I finally had to put a stop to it and make them buy their own.

Would've thought the EDC crowd would have a IWB Kydex or prison wallet sheath available like all their other Tactitoys.

By the way, those are the Cobra pliers. More useful overall, but if you only need them for tightening hex bolts then the plier-wrench is the superior tool.

I carry my 180mm plier wrench version in my pocket all the time at work, and it often proves to be useful.

OP, don't let the haters get to you. I've carried mine horizontally on my belt now for years. I used to carry them in a pocket, but it was too uncomfortable.

The pouch below from Boker is a perfect fit and it set up for horizontal carry. The only complaint I have is that the velcro will load up with fibers from the hi-vis hoodies I often wear, but that is not the fault of the pouch, just a side effect of me wearing a hoodie that hangs low enough to come in almost constant contact with the pouch. The pouch starts to look even more weird once it is full of hi-vis yellow fibers.

Maybe, we had a road side fix on a motorbike and the cobra would have come in very handy.

Social media?

What about GJ?

Almost every time I come here I read about a must have tool I did not even know existed or I ever needed but should have gotten when I was a toddler just in case of a case.

😉

Our foot bridges are held together with 3/8” carriage bolts. Many times on the older bridges, the bolts don’t hold in the wet wood.
The cobra pliers are used to grip the (sometimes bent) threaded section below the nut so the adjustable can turn the nut. Also, as you said, the Cobras are more useful overall.

Some of our footbridges back in place after being washed out by a rain storm.

Looks awesome. One of my favorite things about this site is seeing the variety of different kinds of cool work people do!

That's cool, I really want to do a trip around USA with a motorcycle once. My country is more like what the brothers Grimm were talking about in their books, but seeing different landscapes is really astounding to me.

I'm the main maintenance guy at a regional brewery. I'm also not a Leatherman (or other brand multi-tool) bro. I carry a 6-way screwdriver, a folding knife or two and have been struggling to find the right wrench/pliers to keep on me for the job. I hate having to run back to the shop to grab tools when it's some little problem I can fix with my pocket tools. I've tried 4" Channel Lock, (too small for garden hose fittings), 6" Crescent wrench (same) and 4" needle-nose Vise Grips (not very useful at all).

I broke down and got a pair of the 125mm Cobras after using a friend's pair. The XS were too small for my uses.

I have a sheath a friend's kid made for me to carry the Crescent wrench a few years back, and it fits the little Knipex very well, plus a cheater bar for when I need a little more oomph.

The holster fits perfectly in the left-hand thigh pocket of my Carhart bibs.

The Knipex may have an on-line following, but have you considered that it's because they're exceptionally well made and functional, while not breaking the bank?

They're shorter than a 6" Crescent wrench, but have a larger grip wide-open:

They fit a garden hose fitting just fine:

As well as a POL fitting for propane tanks:

Here's the little cheater bar I made for them:

53355994811_d4f9a79768_b.jpg

I probably use the little pliers four or five times a day.

I don't work for Knipex or sell Knipex products. I just like fine tools.

They do! Go to Etsy, you can find sheaths for Knipex pliers, leather, Kydex, carbon fiber...

(I "EDC" nothing. In fact, all I have in the non-shop part of the house is a pocketknife and 6-in-1 screwdriver. )

I don't EDC mine, but they're in my "admin pouch" (aka a tactical purse), which is always either with me or in my truck. The XS aren't so bad in a pocket, but I don't need them so badly they must be on my person.

I removed my lip balm and hand lotion to make a better impression, but the Cobras fit in easily with my other goodies to keep me entertained at the office.

I think they're surprisingly useful given their size - though when weight isn't a factor, the Leatherman Skeletool makes a lot more sense.

Skeletool is neat but the cast stainless pliers aren't nearly as useful. I don't know why they don't use at least forged pliers, if they're already charging such crazy money for it.

I had an idea that might actually answer the original question.

How about a bit of paracord (or something similar) attached to one of the plier handles with some heat shrink, with a suspension clip so you can clip it to your pants rather that let it fall down to the bottom of your pocket?

Here's a high-quality render I drew in MS paint with my laptop track pad:
