how do you grease your lift?

i just purchased and installed a direct lift pro park 9 plus. the manual states
"BE SURE TO LUBRICATE ALL CABLE SHEAVES, BEARINGS, AND
SHAFTS WITH A GREASE GUN PRIOR TO OPERATING THE LIFT"

do any of you use anything other than grease (i.e. silicone spray)?

there isn't much room to get grease down around the cable sheaves. maybe with a needle tip in the grease gun. anyone do anything else?

has anyone drilled and tapped the spacers around the cable sheaves?

do any of you lubricate the columns where the crossbeams slide up and down?

I use the recommended 90 wt Gear Oil on a rag and try and coat all the cable. Run it up and down to get all parts. I did the same with the sheaves - apply with rag/finger in a couple postions which got the entire thing.

I sprayed WD40 on the column blocks, but I'm guessing almost anything will do - so liong as it doesnt degrade the rubber.

The BendPak has copper bearing inserts on the sheaves and it says nothing about lubricating these. Unless it was going up and down 50 times a day, I can't imagine there would be much wear.

Anyone car to chime in?

The sheaves on the Bend Pak are oil impregnated bronze bushings, like the kind that are used on automobile generators, clutch pilot bushings, etc. I put a high grade of wheel bearing grease in the bearing cavity prior to assembly of the lift, and I spray the cables with CRC Wire Rope and Cable lubricant. I get it at Graingers. It cost about $12 a can and one can is enough to spray the cables one and a half times completely. What I like about the CRC lube is that it goes on wet, and is completely absorbed into the cable, and when it dries, there is no stickiness to it. I only wish that it came in gallon cans so I could brush it on.
