How do you keep pests out?

So my workshop on the farm is essentially a tin barn with lots of holes and cracks and stuff. I know I can't prevent bugs and small animals out completely, but lately I've become overrun with spiders. If I'm not in the shop for a few days or corners where I don't go into for a while, spiderwebs are everywhere! It seems to have picked up in the last year or so. Any suggestions on how to cut down on my bugs?

BRITE AIR oder eliminator and it repels bugs and mice.
Irish Spring Body Wash Clove Oil and Cottonseed Oil
mix it together and I use the caps off like Paint or WD40
pour it in and place it apound the shop, smells good and
works, I have also placed it in vehicles to keep the mice
from eating the wiring.

I would get something with a skull and crossed bones on it and a bunch of warning labels on it.

The spiders are there because there's other insects that provide food for them. If you can reduce the insects you'll reduce the spiders.

I have the outside of the house and shop sprayed every other month, no more spider problem.

I spray the house interior and garage interior/exterior twice a year, and the bottle of concentrate lasts about 5 years.

I use a common garden sprayer.

I give them work to do. When they are told to grab a broom and start sweeping, they suddenly remember they are needed somewhere else.

If you are referring to extended family, well let me say this. I started by standing their unruly kids on the front steps then I asked their parents to leave and never come back.
