Just wondering how everyone here organizes and stores their zip tie cables. I'm sure we all have different sizes and colors of zip ties. Show us what you got and where we can buy it. Thanks.

Edit: Sorry I can't get the picture to stand up.

Couple of different ideas -

Piece of PVC - I used 2 inch diameter (YMMV)
Cut to length - a bit shorter than the length of zip tie being stored
PVC cap on end
Screw to wall with open end up
Insert zip ties

Done

Get yourself a 20-oz Pepsi bottle. They're clear.
Painstakingly remove the label.

remove the little blue seal inside the cap, and drill yourself a 5/16 or 3/8-inch hole in the center of the cap.

Fill the bottle with zip-ties, putting the locking ends at the bottom of the bottle. Don't pack them in, just make it reasonably full.

Put the cap back on.

You now have a neatly storable zip-tie storage container, and when you tip the bottle upside down, the ties self-feed through the hole, thanks to the funnel shape of the bottle. Two or three tails come through the hole, requiring you to actively pull the zip tie out of the hole, so you don't end up spilling ties if you tip the container over.

Wrap them in a zip tye, ratchet tighter as you use them.

20-ounce wide-mouth soda bottle.
Drill a 3/8-1/2-inch hole in the center.
Drop the zip-ties in the bottle with the lock at the bottom. Put lid back on.
Tip bottle to dispense zip ties one at a time.

Take one zip tie and tie the bundle with it. 5 seconds. 25 years of doing that when converting emergency vehicles.

Just to clarify, my first post is just a suggestion, I saw it on the interwebs.
I don't use a lot of zip ties, but they sure can be handy.
I use an old plastic organizer box, minus the dividers, kind of like this picture:

These for the sizes I seem to use most often, the others are in a plastic bin box separated by size.

This but I always turn half of them around so no matter what side of the bundle I'm working from they can just be pulled out.

A medium-sized plastic bucket with either the original plastic bags or open-topped ziploc bags stacked in it.

I keep mine in the plastic bags they came in. Or I use another bag. Others that are loose I use either another zip tie or a piece of gardening wire, the one used to tie branches and such that are coated in green plastic.

Took the easy way and used up some boxes that were saved...may even paint it some day. And, it is portable too.

I don't over think it. I bought a bunch of various sizes. I keep half in the garage in the tube they came in. The other half is in a right sized plastic bag in with the electrical bag of parts and tooling in the house.

I use old zip loc bags, punch a hole and hang them off a nail in my garage. Larger size tie them together using a smaller zip tie and tie them together off the handle of my toolbox

I've posted this in several other threads. This is what I did for in the shop. Keeps them out of the way and a bit more organized. I also have a drawer in a chest closer to my toolbox that has a few on hand. Service truck has several in a bag.

I put a zip tie around the zip ties, and then after a couple have been pulled off the bundle i will usually push the zip tie through the holder and tighten it up to continue holding before they get to loose and fall apart.
