How do you price your used tools?

After picking up some new tools along with a box its time to sell off some stuff. The truck brand hand tools is easy enough with ebay to show an average of what they sell for, the craftsman stuff is pretty much the same though, some isn't worth the effort to sell since I don't do ebay, would rather just sell it local.

Where I'm lost is the old battery powered tools. I have a couple older kits but only one worth selling, its an older 14.4 Makita kit 6934FDX- drill, 1/2" impact and flash light kit They all still work fine, but could use fresh batteries or be recelled, one holds a charge, the other is pretty much dead. I see you can still find the kit new on ebay in the 320 range. I upgraded to the M18 line so there pretty much just taking up space now. Any ideas on what a fair asking price would be to throw them on the local craiglist?

Maybe ask $150-$175 and settle for what you can get. Craigslist you always have to start high unfortunately..

IME, older used battery powered tools go for next to nothing, especially ones under 18v. This set sold for under $100 and included an impact driver, drill, charger, 3 extra capacity batts and a bag. I'm thinking $20-40 if you're lucky.

I was thinking $50 but I don't do craigslist like a lot of others, I tend to find a fair price and stick with it vs asking way to high and taking stupid offers. it tends to keep idiots away from my house lol.

You could always pay it forward to someone who needs them ...I had 14.4v Dewalt drill and 2 flash lights batteries were dead and decided to step up to 20v . I sent them to a member here who has 14.4v Dewalt and could put them to use.

Price them at what you would be willing to pay...

If you have a tool; and wouldn't want a second one as a gift,, find someone who would want it, and give it to them...

Some buyers and sellers like to dicker back and forth on price,,, the OBO term should be stated in the ad if that is the case..

Firm is firm.. some people don't like to dicker at all..
