Kiddo will be 2 soon and things like balls, frisbees, etc that will be used outdoors are going to be stored in the garage. What methods have worked well for you guys to keep things easy to access but organized?

Clear bins that are labeled with what should be in there, on a shelving system. The big thing is everything needs a home, teach the tots to put stuff back in the correct spot helps with lost items or messy garage.

Start them young with "A Place For Every Thing and Everything In It's Place" then set the example.

We should be good on that part. I mostly posted because I'm trying to figure out what the best "place" might be. I've seen racks, and wall mount claw things, and storage carts, and bins with bungee cord sides, etc. I'm sure there are things I haven't seen too, as well as benefits/drawbacks that I'm not aware of for many of the things I just mentioned. I was hoping to see some things you guys have done and hear about some experiences. With all of the parents and grandparents here, I can't be the only one looking for ways to keep this stuff in it's place.

I have a large Rubbermaid tub for my two kids (5 and 8) balls, gloves, frisbees, etc. We also have an old Toy box for more **** that they have. Then of course its the bikes, scooters, bouncy house, etc which is hung on the Rubbermaid Track system. I try to have a place for everything and am constantly yelling at them to put stuff away and it usually falls on deaf ears.

4 kids here and finally kicked all of their stuff out of the garage into one of the big brown Keter deck boxes that lives on the side of the house. Keeps everything dry and out of the way. Huge improvement and costs $100 or less total.

I had my 7 year old help me build a rolling shelf for this purpose a few months ago. It’s plywood and 1x3s assembled with the kreg pocket hole system. We created a tall bin on the end with some bungee cords running vertically to retain larger outdoor balls.
