You should never store your weed wacker or any type of lawn equipment with the gas in the tank. It's bad for the carb and you will have problems starting. If there is no gas in the tank you can store the equipment any way you like.

I never drain mine. My 30 year old Echo blower starts on the 5th or 6th pull since new. My 15 year old Red Max trimmer fires on the first pull and starts on the second.

The trimmer hangs head up on a bracket designed for trimmers. The blower and my other 2 cycle equipment are on shelves in my shed.
