How do you store your cables/wires for welders?

Let's see those pictures of how you have your cables up and out of the way. I have been thinking what to do with my Miller 250Dx and now Miller 252. Between ground, pedal, the water cooled hoses and gas for torch head on the Tig. Then the gun, ground on the mig. I also have the spoolmate 30A stuff also.

If anyone has the pictures for the 252 cable holder please post some pictures and the dimensions please!!!

That's about right. For my 250 amp arc welder I cut an empty 33# Mig wire spool in half and mounted half on each side of the welder to hang the cables. My Tig and Plasma share a cart and I have hangers for all of the cables.

My wire welder leads and cord hang from a ring around the top of the bottle with two hooks on it. The leads for my portable welder are on garden hose hangers screwed to the wall where it is stored.

I fabbed up some hooks out of 1/8" X 1" steel strap, screwed them to the side of the welder case.

I definitely need to figure something with the tig. That has water hoses that can't get damaged!!!

Been using a hook I made that fits on the cylinder neck. Installed it allows rotation to prevent kinks. The top piece is 1/2x1/2 square tubing rolled into a 4"-5" ring and welding a pre bent piece of 1/8"x3/4" or 1" flat strap.

At the shop, the spool gun gets rolled up and put inside a metal shop storage cabinet when not in use, everything else stays rolled up on the machine.

At home, everything gets disconnected and stored in a job-site box to make transport easier for mobile work.

The three holders on the side of the MIG cart will hold my helmet, clear face shield, and ear muffs. The spool gun is in the top drawer of the cart. The Tig welder came with hooks on both sides and I removed the right side and bought the tig caddy. It is simple but works just fine, and it holds the weight of the heavy work cable and double cords to the pedal with no problem. The mig has a 15' gun and 25 feet of #4 copper for the work lead.

I need to figure out how to raise the pedal on my tig also when I'm sitting down. I have a slight idea to put a clamp around the stool and just make a stand out of some square tubing!!!

I just welded a 1" square pipe on the side of the cart and made a J hook out of flat bar. scrap metal kicking around and only took 5 minutes to throw together.

That clamp looks to me like the , stronghand ground hog. Basically a badass grounding clamp.

Yes, it is. It is easy to always have a great ground connection and sometimes it is very handy to use as a clamp, especially when working on smaller items. The switchable magnets look really cool as well, but I will bet they don't stick well to aluminum

I cut the aluminum sheet on the cnc plasma table and the half pipe is half of a section of aluminum tubing. I tacked the inside with the tig welder to attach the parts. A surfacing disc on my 5" grinder made them look pretty.

The aluminum box nest to the tig is the tig cooler I built. The inside has a steel frame and I cut and welded the aluminum sheet for the outside, finished it with my grinder, and installed the pressure gauge so I know I have sufficient pressure to my tig torch at a glance.

Keep the ideas coming. I can get 6'' core bits at work and cut them in half for half moon shapes. I can make them from as small as I want to 18" wide. That is how long the bit is.

For my MIG welder I just use the hooks that came with the cart that I purchased. I'm building another cart though so I'm interested in this thread.

I was going to post a pic of the back but I don't see the pics in my photobucket. I thought I uploaded them and shared them on a forum. I might have picss of the inside of the tig cooler on my desktop. Usually I end up just posting in other threads and don't start my own. Maybe I will start one so I don't clutter up this thread.

PCO6 what gauge metal is that floor plate for the stick welder? I think I'm going to make something like that but make sure I have a room for a couple tubes!!!

skipnay - Here is a picture of the stand itself after I welded it together and before I painted it and attached it to the welder. It's made out of 1.5"x1.5"x 0.125" sq. tubing, 1.5"x1.5"x0.125" angle and 2"x0.25" flat bar. The "box" (where the wire sits) is 16 gauge sheet metal and the floor for it is expanded metal (so dust and other **** can fall out the bottom). I'm sure 18g would have worked fine for the box but I wanted to try 16g on my metal brake ... and it worked. The box floor is only under the box as it's not needed under the welder. I think the casters are 3" dia. and all 4 are swivel casters so I can literally turn it around on the spot.

That tombstone cart is a great idea. I learned to stick weld on my dad's machine like that and it is a pain in the **** to move around.

The overall width (side to side) is 18 3/16" and the depth (front to back) is 18 1/2". I took the depth measurement at the bottom "points" of the sq. tubing.

Nice work on your Miller cart and the tig cooler too.

I also learned on my Dad's Lincoln tombstone. He taught me that and how to use an O/A torch. No mig for us back then!

I'm keeping the single bottle holder for my Miller 252 but I have decided I need to build something to hold the cables. I have both guns hooked up and it ***** trying to keep them on the handles in the front. I guess while I'm doing it I should probably do the same thing for my Miller 250DX also.

I bought a chunk of lead for my Maxstar then decided to cut my plasma lead off from 50 to 15. Could have used the drop. Still didn't really use the one I bought. But I use a common ground and I swear ir worked so much better when I got rid of a coil of lead it didn't need. It could been imagination too but it sure seemed to help.
