I keep mine in the case and when I use the saw I clean the case and the saw off at the same time. Leakage is minimal so usualy a quick pass with a shop rag is enough.

I drain my saws if they are going to seat over a week . Years ago purchased a new stihl 036 It cost a arm and a leg I drained Gas but not oil and left it seat about 18 months. The oil had a reaction and eat throught its tank and oil pump. It had less than 10 hours on it . When i saw it i rememberd a buddy buying a stihl that had same problem. It broke my heart. I sold it cheap so i woulden have to look at it.

I checked my saw today while out in the garage. It doesn't leak. It's a Stihl MS290 and I use Stihl bar/chain oil. :dunno:

I also have this saw. The only time I get leakage is if I overfill the oil tank. I just set it on a piece of cardboard on the shelf.
