Mine is old and the ram will drop under pressure an inch and hour. Doesn't fold and is built like a brick house. I have a rental garage very close by. Close enough that I can wheel it home. I keep it near the door and stack stuff between the floor arms. Easy out.

Do I use it? No........ it just wanted to take fiddy bucks out of my pocket so it could follow me home. :D

If you aren't installing engines all the time and don't have a large garage....those things are just a large cumbersome item. Last time I needed one of those I gave my buddy $40 bucks to borrow it. He dropped it off and when I was done he came and picked it up. Outta my sight and mind. When I need it again I'll probably give him $50 next time. It's worth it to me

Mines folded up in the corner of the garage. I've used it for so much more than engines. Picked it and the matching engine stand up for a song about 15 years ago.

I've got an older non-folding unit, so I just roll it under the front of whatever vehicle is in the "project" bay at the end of the day. I use it frequently enough to justify keeping it around.

1) Buy engine hoist on CL for great price.
2) Remove and install new engine.
3) Sell engine hoist on CL for the same price you paid.

I had to buy one in December because the prices on CL were the same as new or within 25 bucks. Ours has foldable legs, which helps but they are still in the way.

Mine is currently folded up in the corner. Takes p way too much valuable space. I have a disorganized shed. When I organize it, I'll put it in there.

I have the kind that folds up. I use it all the time. We do a lot of moving things around in our shop. When we are restoring old machines, its a great help in lifting the heavy parts. When we are working on our boats, its great for lifting off outboards and lifting boats off of the trailer. I'm a big fan of letting the machine do the heavy lifting. It takes up little floor space compared to a lot of the **** I keep in the shop, but it sure is handy.
