Get some "clean funnels" the ones with a cap on each end. Then you can store them anywhere you want to. Not only do they not drip oil everywhere but the funnel is clean on the inside as well.

I store my "go to" funnel in a plastic Folgers can... keeps it clean so it's ready to use. I shove all of my longer ones into each other & shove a rag in the highest one, they get hung on a peg.

I was in the garage the other day looking for a certain funnel & realised that I seem to have misplaced at least 5 or 6 of them. No idea where the hell they are :(

I wipe mine down after use. I bought "The Set" multiple sizes that fit inside each other so I just nest them and store them upside down on a shelf.

different funnels for different purposes. There is a big one stored in the waste oil secondary containment bin, there is few clean ones in the lubricant cabinet, protected from dirt, then there are others, on the shelf in a bin, waiting for use. The more funnels the better.

I always had the same problem, when I did find them, they where all full of dirt and such. I have mine on the shelf, and they are all together there, so I don't have to search for them. Upside down on the shelf keeps them cleaner. View media item 5217

I probably haven't used a real funnel for 20 years, but recently I bought a car with an automatic transmission so I had to go out and get one so I could add transmission fluid. The closest thing I've had in the meantime was an old quart oil bottle with the bottom cut off.

Best idea I've seen yet is below. Not mine, from a member on GJ. I saved the pics to build one, but haven't gotten around to it yet. Seems ingenious to me.

I hardly ever use funnels, but I want to build one of these asap. I might do something a little different with the bottom, maybe something that attaches to the wall like on the top.

It needs a provision to cover the tops of the funnels to keep dirt out. But it would work good to drain the last few drops out of the plastic quart oil bottles.

I use one of these ...

Hinged lid makes it easy to store the funnels in there without them getting dirty, and some old rags on bottom soak up any oil.

Good lord. Just wipe them down, and put them away. With the variety of fluids I use my funnels for, I need them cleaned out. And I don't want to do it when I need it most.

While that apparatus is neat for the excess fluids, all it's doing is taking up space, and creating another item that I can knock over and spill everywhere.

Just clean them, and put'em up.

i let mine drip into the oil catch pan until most of the oil is out, then wipe them out. then hang on the pegboard. then when i use it next, i wipe it out again. seems easiest to me.

if u want them to look good hanging on the pegboard machine some funnels out of billet aluminum!

No photos, but I took an empty five gallon plastic oil pail and cut holes in the lid for each funnel. Some of the small ones nest inside of the larger ones.

To keep dust and dirt out, I got an old plastic tool box from pawn shop and store them in there.

I have a 1" hole drilled in the top of my wood counter top over the open area where I store my chair and trash can. The hole lines up with the trashcan, so I can sweep debris on the counter into the trash. When I get done with a funnel, I stick it in the hole for 30 minutes or overnight or whatever and then store it in a cabinet.

I usually end up making a new one from the nearest empty oil container.

Don't you all have them lying in the corners?

It's rapidly becoming apparent that I have been visited by the Funnel Fairy who has spirited all my damn funnels off to another dimension. I fear a trip to Walmart is on the cards...

Seriously, just HTF do damn near ALL my ******** funnels disappear?

I am with the rarely ever use them crowd. I bought containers with spigots on them for the common fluids I use, use ******* from gear lube bottles on oil and atf when I can. If I do need one I usually rinse after in parts washer and hang it up, also cut the bottom of a quart oil container off when needed and toss.

I must be a clean freak to some extent. I rinse my used funnels out with gas and then dry them off and out, then store them up side down on a dish towel that I stole from work. Also I stuff a paper towel in the neck to keep out grit, and absorb any wet residue.

Simple...you've put them somewhere where you can find them fast when you need them..and right now you don't need them...so you can't find them.
When you need them. You will know exactly where they are.
I've been looking for a particular 'trick' spanner for 5 years. I don't need it right now but I know it's there somewhere and I'll find it when I need it. ( in the meantime I've sold the car that the 'trick' spanner was made for.)

I do something similar, only I use acetone. Rinse, wash, dry, stack and stuff the top with a shop towel then place on bottom shelf of the service cart.
