how do you store your welding shields

how do you store your shields, especially the auto darking models

I still put mine in the carry bag then in the box.
I was going to do something better but I have too many projects.

Went to the storage container section of Dollar General and found a plastic container of the right size with a clip on lid. Works for me, and keeps these darn nasty stink bugs out of my shield.

In the bag, and that goes in a cabinet drawer. Main thing is to keep the dust off the lens, but some of the less expensive models will trigger with every spark (grinding) and kill your battery if just hung on the cart in the corner of the garage.

I keep mine in the bags that came with them. I race motorcycles so I recycle my helmet travel bags into welding helmet bags. They have pockets for extra shields etc. You can buy new ones fairly cheap and they offer great protection.

Mine are on fabricated hooks on the wall just above the welders.

I have a Miller Digital Infinity which seems to die pretty fast if it’s put in a dark toolbox drawer. I hang it on a coat rack now and I haven’t had to change the batteries.

in the garage i keep my hoods and shield in a couple of SO side boxes.
in my service truck i keep it hanging up in the torch bottle compartment

Mine is in a large-ish plastic bag and it hangs on a pegboard hook(s). IMO the main thing is to keep it in a bag or container if it sits for long periods. Obviously, you'll never see this method in a fab/welding shop as it gets used every day.

I keep mine in the cabinet of the HF Vulcan welding cart my welder and plasma cutter are on.

Flip up compartment of HF welding cart. It's a tight fit but works for me. If I welded more I'd probably want a spot on the shelf for it.

Space is always tight but I put all my welding and cutting shields on a fold out aluminum plate with four hooks each side above the welder. I store shields on both sides so room for eight. Because it is close to an upper shelf it's somewhat protected from dust. A couple pics which explain it better than I can. They are right by the grinders too so easy to grab a shield with a tool.

Hung on the gas bottle. Welding coat over top keeps the dust off.

The Miller XLI I had for over 15 years and never changed the battery.

The warming ovens are handy brownbagg, even though they take some space, especially if you run a lot of low hydrogen rod. I keep a small variety of rods in there with the 7018 becaue it's convienient. I've got a smaller warmer for field work but hardly ever use it now. I see rod ovens reasonably priced every once in a while.

Ever try to move one? They're pretty heavy.

If you do a lot of low hydrogen work or if you do code welding they're a requirement.

To answer OP, I hang my helmets on hooks over my toolbox.

I have 3 that I use regularly. The extras I keep in a cabinet. I usually only use fixed shade helmets, but the auto darkening do see occasional use.

my fixed helmets, and clear and tinted faceshields, on hooks, out of the way.
which also means, out of handy reach
