Received this in the mail recently, wanting to get an idea of how I can use it and what it's limitations are.

The seller listed it as a Bushing inserter / remover. It's a Snap On box, and it seems to be a slide hammer setup?

Can someone give me a quick how-to on using this thing!

looks like it's made to install or remove bushings in a place you have access to both sides of the hole.

ie: leaf spring end bushings

possibly kingpin bushings :dunno:

could be a vehicle specific set :headscrat

edit: it looks like it has a couple of driver handles as well

If it is a SO, which it looks to be (discounting the name on the box) then there should

be numbers identifying the part which should be traceable on the SO online catalog.

To me it looks to be a camshaft bearing installer. (But what do I know ?) If it turns out

this is true, you may be able to download an instruction manual.

Good hunting

All the small pieces with the shoulders on them fit tightly into the bushing.

The two slide hammer thingys will extract or place the bushing by simply turning the square end and drawing the spacers and bushing fitting upward. (no slide hammer action). This action will either pull the bushing out or pull it into position. The big slide weight looking pieces are just spacers so you don't have to turn too many threads. There are some smaller spacers there too.

The two shafts are for screwing into the bearing shouldered fittings (small shaft) or just placing the tip into the bearing shoulders fitting and then driving the bearings in or out.

A lot of bushings are press fit or heat shrunk into position and you need to heat the housing and cool the bushing to remove or install without damaging things.

And the driver handles can be used in blind holes where the pullers can't be used...in blind work, the old bushing is collapsed, slotted, or tapped to getitout.
These things are important on cars from around 1950's back which had lots of bushings in chassis and electrical parts.
