How does everyone store ladders in there garage?

I don't. My big ones are hanging outside on 2 hooks. Or I just leave them in the hay barn. Keith

I hang them from the ceiling by chains attached to the ceiling rafters.

This one has been done multiple times, but...

Depends on the ladder, what are you trying to hang/store?

I have a couple of hooks on a couple of rafter ties in the garage an hang my extension ladder there lengthwise in the garage.

I have a couple of 6 footers and plan on building a shelf with a couple of angled wood plate for the two ladders to hang from by the top "step"

My 3' step ladder just sits leaning against something, and moves around depending on where I used it last.

I need a better solution myself as I have 4, 6, 8 and 12 foot ladders. My walls seem riddled with ladders.

I have my big one stored like PFSard above except I use hooks not the shelf at the end which is a great idea.

I made a hanger out of black pipe for my 8 foot ladder.


Here is the end, when I take the ladder down I just twist the pipe 90 degrees.


It makes it easy to put up because I can put up the top of the ladder and have it hold the weight while walk up my smaller ladder with the bottom of the big ladder and just twist the pipe to hold the bottom of the ladder.

I originally had a pulley type of system but I did not really care for it.
