Been a die hard Wiha fan for quite sometime, but have been looking at Moody for some needed odds and ends. Not really changing brands or anything, but noticed Moody are made in USA and like to support USA manufacturing with my play money, even if the purchase isnt out of necessity. I already pulled the trigger on some of their open ends, lol.

Wiha are better IMHO. Moody has been around for a long time producing eye glass and electronics type screwdrivers. They still have their iconic standard finger spinner tops.

I got the 67 pc set of chrome vanadium Moody precision screwdrivers and was quite disappointed in the quality. I found them to be no better than the import knock-offs which are a hundredth the cost. The screwdrivers were poorly made, as well as the cheap vacuum molded holders. The wood box was nice.

Made and disappointed in the USA.

Starrett precision screwdrivers are in another league altogether if you're looking for all metal precision screwdrivers.

I have the large Wiha plastic set and it's much better than the Moody metal set.

I have about 30 Moody screwdrivers. They are as good or better than any precision screwdriver I have ever used. I also own Wiha and Starrett drivers and I personally prefer the Moody drivers. Wiha has a much larger assortment than Moody though. I'm not a big fan of anything from Starrett in the last 10 years. Once upon a time they made excellent tools, not so much anymore.

ricleh,

Which model(s) of the Moody precision screwdrivers do you own?

Thanks,

Dave

One of the problems with Wera, Wiha and Felo precision screwdriver is the long shanks. Usually at least 60mm. For some precision work you really want the shank to be shorter so you can be closer to the work.

Moody makes a short shank version of their precision ESD plastic handle screwdrivers with the shank length of about 25mm.

I haven't found anyone else that offer these short shank versions. I've ordered one to try out.

I have Moody, Wera, and Wiha precision screwdrivers, the Weras are my favorite. The Moody and Wiha fingertip caps barely rotate, the Weras are much nicer in that regard. For that reason alone, I've used the Weras more than any of the others probably 10x, and the tips have lasted. I should probably sell off the others at some point.

Have you seen the Vessel precision drivers? They're next on my list, if I ever break any of the Weras.

Thanks, those look useful with the torque ampliers. The problem with most jewelers style screwdrivers is the small O.D. of the body. (that can be an issue once you get to the larger sizes)
