How does this hitch work?

Never used this type of hitch before on a trailer. What do I need to know about making it work? Safety pin somewhere on the side I can't see? Thanks.

the round collar slips forward & a pin goes thru to hold it in place
edit, the collar is probably spring loaded

Pull the collar aft, then the side will open. Close the side and push collar forward. Lockpin hole will appear when far enough forward.

I have that same hitch on my flat bed trailer.

The rear round collar gets pulled back a little bit and it releases the flat (wedge) then slides inward around the ball coupling to make the ball hitch connection , the rear collar gets released and closes and clamps everything together tight. Then a pin gets added and your done - safety chains and electric plug.

sounds complicated but very simple.

It's a good hitch, better than the stamped ones that are more common.

Got one on my equipment trailer. I love it...much better than the typical top lever style.
