I'm just a DIY guy, and have most of what I use in my cart:

I have a Sunex set with the small number of SAE sockets I own in a drawer in the main tool chest. I'm always a bit surprised to see SAE in mechanics tool chests - I thought the US automakers went metric a couple decades ago (but I'm probably wrong).

The ones in the shop I work in have both, since we work on all kinds of models and classic restoration.

I recently banished all my Imperial tools to a secondary tool box. I haven't used any non metric tools in years. I had no reason to keep them taking up space in your main box. That opened up some room, which is good because I've got a pretty good order coming this week to fill it up.

I was taking some insurance pics so here is my current top drawer. Still need a few more socket sets to satisfy my needs, and as always more ratchets are always on my list.

Some of you guys have amazing collections...

This is a drawer where the limits of the HF44 (lack of) depth show up:

Still, it works for my purposes.

I have a big mix of sae and metric since we do heavy equipment and industrial repair, pumps, motors, a lot of the industrial side is still heavily sae.

All of my stuff above 1 1/2" and axle sockets usually live in my service rig.

Mine's more like how not to do it, I guess.
I like Hansen's but almost half mine don't fit on them. I hate being locked in to a setup. You can see blanks on the gray Hansen for like deep 3/8" 4mm (really) and deep 1/4" 5/8" (does anyone even sell those?) But happily the biggest one in the 3/8" rack is the very useful 20mm instead of 21mm. One day I hope to work a Trabant. Rumored to be the only car on the planet that has a couple of 20mm fasteners. I've added another rail of extractor type sockets and a small set of torque sticks since this picture and had to rearrange a few things to fit them.
I get as much use out of the old metal spring clip rails as the Hansen's. I don't like how they tend to come up when you pull a socket so I pop river them to the drawer. Not a solution I'm terribly happy about.
I liked the Hansen triple trays. Until I realized I really need quad trays, short six point and short 12 point, medium deep, and full deep. The complicate things once or twice I've needed a 12 point deeps too. You can see some 12 points stacked on top of others. The gray rail is front is so crammed I routinely use a pocket magnet to get the short chrome 13mm out, I can't get my fingers in there.
I bought heavy magnet rail and it didn't really help me. I ended up flipping it over a sticking male torx and allen sockets on the sides of it. Upper right of the picture.
Another such magnet rail I used normally for the 1/2" ball swivels. The tend to fall over when the drawer is slammed shut. It *****. I need another spring rail instead I guess. Even more spring rails, my specialty sockets need organizing too. There's a white plastic rail in the foreground with 12 points on it. I hate it. Came from Sears back when I think.

you guys that have them stored vertically - how can you tell them apart? I have mine on those metal rails you get from SO stored horizontally. Takes a lot more space, but you can tell immediately what the socket is (deep, semi-deep, standard), metric or fractional and its size.

the plastic holders I use have numbers on them

AND...

I keep DIN sizes (10, 13, 15, 17, 19) hex side up, with less often used sizes drive side up

These drawers have been much the same way for about 25 years. 15 professionally and now 10 years in retirement. Just kinda used to things the way they are.
My deep sockets over 1” or 24mm are in another drawer.
This drawer isn’t quite deep enough to stand them upright.
Honestly, it isn’t a problem as I don’t use them much anymore.

Definitely not all my sockets, but I've got my top drawer arranged with my drive accessories and my favorite ratchet set and torque wrenches. Remaining ratchets and sockets are in other drawers. The extension collection looks a little ridiculous, but I've got standard, wobble, and locking in chrome, and then a set of 3/8" and 1/2" locking impact.

Is that a Craftsman Pro flex head third from right? What is the p/n? I have the long fixed head version.

That ratchet is a USA Craftsman bent-handle flex-head #44835.
I did the Matco88 head swap on mine. Craftco-Matsman Edition.

Main go to stuff is at the top, rest in the other drawers.
All drawers are labeled and easy to get to.

Metric I use the most, have SAE too when needed.

Thanks! I thought it was a straight handle and I have never found one like it.
