How does your Socket top drawer look ?

How do you like those Mac handle driver extensions?
I have been thinking about getting me 1/4 and 3/8...

I only have one, but I like it. I like the locking feature, which is slim and works well. The handle isn’t as bulky as a Snap-on Instinct but still large enough to grip. I saw that the sets were on sale but I don’t use them enough to allocate space for two full trays of them.

I've been working on my top drawer.
Still not happy with it, but I need to buy different organizers.

I added more sockets, but unfortunately I had to move my ratchets and extensions to a different drawer. Just not enough room.

But all of my sockets are in the top drawer now, except an axle nut set I left in the blow mold case that lives in the bottom drawer. Those might come up top later if I have room after buying new organizers.

This is my main box, most of the daily use stuff is in the cart, plus specially bit and 3/4 stored elsewhere.

Just a DIYer so this works for me. I keep the cases because the 1/2 and 1/4 drive sets were Dad’s and are antiques. Deeps and metrics are on rails. The plastic 3/8 SAE set case just because I need some more rails.

Yup, those are it. Lisle makes a version now as well. The only other of that style I found were from Koken, but they didn't have complete sets. Use them very rarely but they're wonderful when the time comes.

It's made in our shop using 1/4" aluminum with 8-32 holes spaced 1" apart. Sockets are mounted on Olsa socket rails screwed to the plate.

I removed the SAE sockets from the box for now (except the SAE hex) and moved a few things around.

I'm still trying to decide on an organization method. It's a difficult decision for me to make. I don't want to waste money if I decide it doesn't work for me.

But I am absolutely not happy with the way it currently sits. I also plan on buying more sockets, and maybe add the SAE back in as well, so I also need a solution that will maximize use of available space and fit as many sockets as possible.

Mine is a bit of a mess at the moment. I’m currently in the process of figuring out how to organize it all. I have too much. This is the widest drawer in my box and it’s the only place I can store some of my bigger wrenches so they get thrown in here too. You guys have some nice looking drawers, I’ll be combing this thread for ideas. I wanted to use Tool Grid, but it seems to waste a lot of space between sockets. Not to mention, my garage is very small so anything I work on needs to be outside, so keeping my sockets on rails makes it easy to bring them out with me.

Here is my baby set up in my Cart. Everything is metric. Chrome 1/4, 3/8, 1/2 impact 3/8, 1/2 swivel 1/4, 3/8, 1/2 (shallow+deep). Organizers are Westling. All my SAE and larger sockets are in my larger box but it dosen't look as nice.

Honestly all I ever seem to be grabbing out of my box is 1/4&3/8 chrome, 1/4&3/8 impact swivels and 1/2 impact. Also it feels like I use my m12 ratchets and 1/4 nut driver for most everything and chrome ratchets seem to be almost a specialty.

After seeing what it would cost me to purchase this system. They are in love with their prices

I printed the grids, socket holders and wrench holders(not shown).

To give you an idea of the savings, on just the grids alone.

For a USG S3, 42" requires 19, 6x6 grids for ONE big drawer.

My cost to print the 6x6 grids: $27.34 (16 pieces)

Olsa Tools/ Obsessed Garage 16 pack of 6x6 grids $105.49

So, 78% savings.

I printed 3 big drawers for my two 42" USG S3, and one big drawer for my 56", requiring 83 6x6 grids. Total $141.85 vs $632.94.

This savings doesn’t include the savings from me printing the socket and wrench holders. I’m assuming my savings for the holders was also near the 80% range as well. Didn’t feel like counting how many socket holders I printed
