How effective is CRC 3-36 Multi-purpose Lubricant as a rust preventative? Has any one tried CRC 3-36 Multi-purpose Lubricant?

at least the username is a giveaway. i use t9 for rust resistance. i did get a sample of 3 36 and use it to free up the shifters on older bicycles. loosens up the dried up grease pretty well. it also penetrates pretty well, used it on sticky brakes and and rusted up derailers

FWW magazine tested a number of products last month to find the best rust prevention product and 3-36 came out on top. Not sure how good it is as a lube but apparently it's pretty good at rust protection.

It works awesome. We spray a lot of steel parts with it, and I work on boats... salt water gets through most things, but a thick coating of 336 will stop it. It's almost like a wax when you spray it on thin.

Does CRC 3-36 Multi-purpose Lubricant leave any kind of residue? Is it sticky?
