how far can you stretch metal in ceiling?

Looking to get a barn built and plan on insualting it myself.

Trying to figure out a good truss spacing. Is 5' to far apart to span metal with no hangers?

I plan on blowing fiberglass or cellulose on top of it, most likely fiber if it isn't to expensive.

You need to talk to the builders. Truss spacing needs to be close enough to handle your snow load. Odd spacing like 5' will be inefficient in material, and you need to let them know you want to hang something from the trusses. Better to run boards perpendicular to the trusses for the ceiling. 2x4 is much cheaper than extra posts and trusses.

Wood or metal barn???

I built a metal barn with rafters on 8 ft spacing. I used R-panel on the ceilings and put in about six inches of cellulose and it hasn't been a problem. I'm not sure how thick you can get the cellulose, but I would think 6-8 inches wouldn't be a problem. HTHs

I priced out doing that and found it nowhere near worth DIY. The builder insulated and lined the building for not much more than I could buy the material.
