How far to coat garage floor

I'm doing prep-work to put down a coating of RockSolid polycuramine on our garage floor. I think I'm clear on the process, except for how far to go relative to the garage door. It's labeled for interior application only, but the garage floor slab extends out 3-4 inches to the outside.

Am I supposed to only apply it to areas that will always be indoor, or should I cover the area that will be outside, or does it matter?

You will want to terminate the coating at the door. RockSolid will amber (turn yellow) if exposed to U.V. rays. Some coatings for indoor use only can also begin to chalk if exposed outdoors for a length of time.

As a general rule we do not recommend going beyond the door seal. Tape it off and leave it be as no garage coatings are designed for outdoor use as they can yellow and will not hold up and could yellow so when the door is open it won't look great from the discoloration.

HINT: Use Gorilla tape or a good quality duct tape as blue tape and masking tape wont stick worth a darn to concrete and the coating will run under it and make a mess.

Same advice...I ran a tape edge where the middle of the door seal hits the floor. I ran regular painters tape in a couple layers then duct tape on top to build up the thickness to material wouldn't flow over it then rolled the tape down to seal it to the floor...worked great

For both my shed and garage I applied past the roller door which is approximately 10cm. Both are south facing. The beige has yellowed slightly for my shed but the brown in my garage hasn’t changed at all. Both still look good though and are holding up well. Products are primer, high solids epoxy, mid flakes and clear polyurethane.

Thanks for the quick feedback. Floor is degreased, etched, and drying. Should be able to apply coating this weekend!

I think the project went pretty well. It used a lot of product, though - 540 sq ft, and I didn't quite finish with two 2.5 car garage packages and had to buy a 6th car garage to finish.

One issue is that in several places, it looks like the denim flakes didn't land flat, and they sucked up some polycuramine to support them, so I have some sharp things poking up. Is it safe to just take a dremel and grind these down a little?

Dont worry about the flakes. Ive done two full flake floors (my shop, and back patio) and scraped both floors before I put on the clear but even after 2/3 layers of top coat there are still little pokies. I cut a few down with a razor that were super aggressive but the others smoothed themselves out from foot traffic and dragging stuff around.
